Simon Bernardi

Simon_BernardiSimon has had over 25 years experience in the aviation and tourism sectors. He has held a number of senior commercial positions in both Qantas Airways and The Jetset Travel World group.

Much of that career has been working directly with Travel Agents as General Manager Industry sales Australia for Qantas and a secondment to Harvey World Travel to reengineer “Escape Holidays” into profitability as Harvey’s Choice Holidays.

Over his career he has represented both companies on subsidiary boards both in Australia and Internationally.

As Managing Director of Qantas Holidays he propelled the company to be the strongest leisure wholesale business in the industry achieving record profitability (In excess of $50m EBIT) and revenues (TTV in excess of $1.1 Billion).

At Qantas Holidays he initiated the first direct charters to Phuket in Thailand and initiated the ReadyRooms program.

Believing that “…you don’t get customers unless you look for them yourself…” he initiated the first national  10page lift out for Qantas Holidays, as a fully integrated campaign with press and television the campaign drove millions of dollars of incremental sales to Qantas Holidays, suppliers and its agents.

Simon began his career working in reservations and travel centres in Qantas as a consultant and has hands on appreciation for the effort travel agents need to put into every sale. He has a Bachelor of Business majoring in Transport which has provides solid business foundations to his thought processes.

In 2012 Simon formed “SB Consulting” and The Australian Travel Agent Barometer and has worked with many industry clients by providing his expertise and advice to their business.
